cooking with the french guys

after all these wild adventures i need to blog about getting to know modern japanese mall culture again. what could be more relaxing after a hard days work than cooking in the incredible tomato cooking club:

more about the japanese cooking experience after the jump…

the first thing we had to do was getting to wear our official tomato cooking club wear

by the way these are: olivier, flerent and remy (from left to right) / the french guys

the second step was washing our hands. i was ok with that step.. i didn’t want the filthy french hands in my nice food.. ;) but the next step was definitively unnecessary.. they disinfected our hands with pure alcohol after we washed them with soap and hot water?! is that really necessary.. i am not operating on an open heart here…

after all the washing ceremonies were finished we could start to cook. finally!

teri yaki *meaning shining grilled stuff* in our case chicken, some japanese stew *forgot the name*, and a mango mousse with lots of cream… yummmie!

the shiny chicken teri yaki

the amazing thing is, that we had to use an incredible amount of sugar for all the meal’s dishes.. even for the stew…

our sensei:

we thought, that she probably never had that much fun… we guessed it would not be the regular business for her to cook with 4 gaijins.

the result.. itadakimasu!

aftermath:

  • the lesson went on for two hours.. oishikatta (meaning it was tasty) and it cost us 1000 yen = 6 real money units
  • we immediately fell in love with the cooking club.. and we were thinking how are they making any money if they only want sen-en for each lesson.. well the wanted MORE way MORE!!!! to come again we would have had to join the club and pay around go sen-en each lessen.. amounting in 30 real money units.. which is way too much for my taste since you can get a very decent meal for that money in osaka or kyoto.
  • and you don’t have to disinfect your hands..
  • all in all it was great
