on saturday i visited the thousand torii of fushimi inari, as you can see on the pictures…
it is a very impressive walk of about 4km in length through at least thousand of these gates. it goes up a quite steep hill/mountain. from time to time the gates are interrupted by open spots, where you can find little lakes, shrines, and graveyards. the whole picture story can be seen on my picasa album: Fushimi Inari
it was a very beautiful walk up the hill with a few nice spots with a view over kyoto. however, it was quite exhausting as well… the problem were the 30 degrees and the incredible humidity! i think summer is not the best time to walk up there. should have waited until september or something. but it was worth it anyway.
another interesting thing that i learned on this day is that kitsune is not only a music label from france, but it means fox in japanese (so the labels name could be explained by the fact that there is a japanese guy within the founders of the label). kitsune in japanese represents something like a messenger of god and stone foxes are found all over fushimi inari. most of them carry keys in their mouth representing something spiritual again.
on saturday night i went to a small club in kyoto and luckily met some of the gaijins i have met the other day. three english teachers.. english teacher seems to be the only profession gaijins have in kyoto. anyway, it was a nice little party with a bunch of djs. i asked one of them if it was possible to dj myself there, since his music style was very similar to mine and included songs from the label kitsune. anyway i will do a little performance on the coming monday to „impress“ the owner so that i may dj on weekends
tonight there is a live performance of one of the english teachers. i think i will head there…
so have a nice day
