deja vu: osaka edition

yeah g. you definitively were right… i found another giant crab in osaka (actually i found 2 of them.) now it is up to you to decide if the screenshot of the yakuza game is taken in osaka or in kyoto!

i guess it is osaka.. however the plane on the right does not seem right. maybe it was added after the game was designed i dunno. but the traffic signs look more in place. imagine the place at night with less people and less bikes

i never played him a lot in the past but i think i definitively going to change this, since he looks so cute and adorable! only downturn is, that i thought sonic is really fast. but this is simply not true. either he got fat over the years or he uses a double for the dangerous stunts.

1, 2, 3, … hm one is still missing

so i went to osaka den den town, AGAIN with a bunch of americans.. yeah couldn’t resist to see their reactions.. they were pretty freaked out, that there was hardly anything they remember from their childhood. no halo, no xbox stuff… hm where did it all go? to america.. yeah and they punished me in the end telling me that the BBQ next friday is going to be a 4th of july party … sucks

 

so what happened.. oh i am taking too much away from tomorrows story.. to get back to the strange title.. it is about counting friends. i found three old/not so old companions. presenting number one:

living in japan: going online

yo folks.. i finally made it… i got internet at home and i bought myself a glittery 3g mobile phone from samsung.. what else… a statement agains japan: buy korean stuff! go for it kim!

living in japan: office edition

yeah.. this is my desk in the office. you can see that even though i have been here for only two weeks now the chaos’ force to maximal entropy me drove me into letting it look like my desk in ulm. but maybe i just allowed myself to fit into the surrounding landscape like a chameleon, because if you look at the other pictures my desk doesn’t look that messy after all…

fushimi inari and the real kitsune

on saturday i visited the thousand torii of fushimi inari, as you can see on the pictures…

it is a very impressive walk of about 4km in length through at least thousand of these gates. it goes up a quite steep hill/mountain. from time to time the gates are interrupted by open spots, where you can find little lakes, shrines, and graveyards. the whole picture story can be seen on my picasa album: Fushimi Inari

the whole gaijin experience

also… gestern war ich ja auf dem „stammtisch“. natuerlich waren da auch ein paar deutsche, die wie ich gerne das spiel sehen wollten.. (jetzt im nachhinein in anbetracht meines katers und des ergebnisses will ich es nicht mehr gesehen haben, aber was passiert ist..) also was macht man wenn man um 10 aus dem lokal geschmissen wird in dem man gegessen hat bis um halb 4? man begibt sich in die twilight zone!

wenig neuigkeiten, wenig einfaelle

heute mal nur kurz gefasst:

• versuche genervt und verzweifelt 2 signale das eine mit 25Hz und das andere mit 10Hz aneinander anzupassen… ich verliere im endeffekt 4 frames also 400ms. ich muss die ganze zeit an dschinges denken, der das als DiplArbeit schreiben sollte… da wuensch ich ihm mal viel spass und wenn er es loest dann waer ich ihm endlos dankbar!
• morgen fangen meine japanisch lektionen an. die „lehrerin“ ist ne winzige frau, die glaubte ich koennte japanisch, weil ich gesagt hab ich kann ein paar zeichen schreiben und lesen.. was ja auch stimmt dank guido, aber trotzdem fuehl ich mich als anfaenger, was sie partout nicht verstehen wollte. naja gruppenunterricht bekomm ich deswegen keinen und muss alleine mit ihr rumhampeln. wahrscheinlich wird das unermesslich teuer und das macht die bestimmt mit allen schuelern.
• nick faehrt heute, ne morgen, nach russland was bedeutet, dass ich das labor fuehren soll.. kann mir nicht wirklich irgendetwas darunter vorstellen, vor allem, weil nick neben mir der einzige ist, der englisch spricht.
• heute abend geh ich auf einen „stammtisch“ was auch immer.. deutsche sollen angeblich da sein. mal schaun ob ich nen schreikrampf bekomme, wenn einer eine fahne traegt. aber ich denke mal, dass ich so leute kennenlerne, was auch nicht schlecht ist.
• und jetzt gibt es essen.. so long

work in progress..

nick and i just submitted our first proposal for collaborative work called: „laughter detection for measuring discourse engagement“. the work will be discussed and presented as ongoing work at the fall meeting of the acoustical society of japan in fukuoka in the middle of september. looking forward to that… but i don’t know how far the work in progress will be until then probably a lot of questions that arise until then.
